Back at the Citadel

yorkphilchoir

On Monday 26th July it felt good to be rehearsing again in the Citadel ( see facebook post). We had 46 singers in the hall and 3 online. We wore our singers' masks to give everyone a greater sense of bio security. Given the very high prices being charged by music retailers for this style of mask we are fortunate that our excellent stock was made locally. It was a hot evening not ideal for a face covering particularly for those for whom it was a new experience. The masks did though give us more confidence to increase our dynamic range, or, in baritone speak' gi it sum welly lad'. As a welcome back we sang mostly well known pieces so effectively sang a concert to ourselves. The sound quality was remarkably good which is encouraging as we may be able to quite quickly come back to concert standard and be able to plan some public performances. Watch this space
